Bed and Breakfast in Beaune

The House - Les Vignes Vierges

An 18th Century House

The property is an imposing L-shaped eighteenth century building, one of the earliest family houses to be built outside the old walled town of Beaune.  The two sides of the house are joined by a tower.  Outside, in the front courtyard there is secure off-street parking.  The courtyard is bordered by roses and campanula-filled flower beds.  There is a front terrace for breakfast on Summer mornings.

The left wing of the house used to be a cooperage.  Barrels were made in what is now a large family sitting room on the ground floor.  This beautiful room with its timbered ceiling is for use by the guests.  It is furnished “à l’anglaise” with hunting prints, comfortable armchairs and sofas and there is often an open fire burning in the old chimney made of local stone from Chassagne Montrachet.

Behind the house, the rear garden is a wonderful secluded haven enclosed by high old stone walls.  Silver birches and cherry trees add to the privacy and tranquility.  Beyond the lawn, and securely fenced-off, there is a large but discreet heated swimming pool which is available for guests to use from May onwards.
